In an interview during the 2024 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff revealed he thinks about his post-playing career quite a bit before sharing what he might do next.
“Like whenever I’m done however many years from now that is, am I burnt out or do I want more?” he told the Detroit Free Press. “I don’t know. I always have said I’d love to help a friend who’s a coach, who’s a head coach. ‘Hey, where can I help?’ And I’m not saying it’s coaching quarterbacks or coaching anything, but just like, ‘Can I help you with anything?
“If I’m going to coach my kid in high school, sure, that’d be fun. But yeah, if I ever have a guy that I’m close with that’s a head coach somewhere and I could be of assistance in anyway, yeah, I’m sure that’d be fun. It might be a remote job, but it depends on where it’s at.”

While Goff isn’t done with his NFL career just yet, he’s already lining up his next moves. On Friday afternoon the world learned he’s part of an investor group attempting to bring a WNBA team to Detroit.
“I’m thrilled to join this inspiring group of leaders as we work to bring a WNBA team to Detroit! This is an incredible opportunity for our vibrant community and the most passionate fans in the country!” he said in a statement on his Instagram story.
His wife, Christen, is also part of the bid and shared her reaction to the news with a, “LetsBringIt” hashtag and a blue heart.
At only 30 years old, Goff has plenty of football ahead of him, but he’s already thinking about the future.
