Rory McIlroy watching his rival make an incredible putt
Masters leader Rory McIlroy watched rival Bryson DeChambeau sink an epic putt on 18th before vowing he won’t engage in a rematch with his great rival.
The four-time Major winner is in the zone and could only smile during his CBS interview with Amanda Balionis as the man who pipped him to the US Open last year is once again hunting him down.
But McIlroy – 18 holes away from completing golf’s Grand Slam – has flatly rejected any notion he will become embroiled against a surging DeChambeau at Augusta as the golfing world stands primed for a classic.
The Irishman made six straight threes in a round packed with Masters brilliance but his fierce rival for LIV Golf is also firing on all cylinders.
Speaking after his history-making round, McIlroy said: “It was an awesome day and puts me into a great position going into tomorrow.
“I think the big thing is not to make it a rematch, stay in my own little world.
“There’s a few other people who could make a run, I just have to stay in my own little bubble and approach the day with the same attitude I have the last few days.”
